Github Foundations Certification
I’m excited to share that I have officially earned the GitHub Foundations Certification! 🚀
This certification validates my knowledge of GitHub’s core functionalities, including:
✅ Git and GitHub workflows
✅ Branching, merging, and collaboration best practices
✅ Pull requests, issues, and project management
✅ Security, compliance, and CI/CD basics
As a software engineer, I use GitHub daily for version control, collaboration, and automation. Preparing for this certification helped reinforce my understanding of best practices and workflow optimization.
About the GitHub Foundations Certification
✅ Launched in January 2024, this is still a relatively new certification, so there aren’t many study resources available online.
✅ Students can take the foundations exam for free once, making it a great opportunity to validate GitHub skills.
✅ The exam platform still has many technical issues, so even after passing, there’s often no confirmation email or certificate issued immediately. I still haven’t received mine even though I passed. The certification is valid for 3 years, so be sure to think carefully before applying!
✅ While GitHub claims to support multiple languages, most IT certifications—including this one—are best taken in English for accuracy and clarity.
Despite the hurdles, I found this certification valuable in reinforcing my understanding of GitHub workflows, version control, and collaboration best practices. Looking forward to applying these skills to future projects and continuing my journey with GitHub! 💻✨
